THIS WORKSHOP IS DESIGNED FOR BCBAS, BCABAS, TEACHERS, PARENTS AND ALL WHO ARE INVOLVED IN REMOTE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND SUPPORT FOR VARIOUS LEARNERS, INCLUDING THOSE ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM.
The Guidelines for Responsible Conduct states that, "Behavior analysts design behavior-change programs that are conceptually consistent with behavior-analytic principals." (4.01). and "Behavior analysts must tailor behavior-change programs to the unique behaviors, environmental variables, assessment results, and goals of each client." (4.03a). When assessing and individualizing a learner's goals within a school district, each professional provides input into the student's overall program, however, working in a collaborative environment can prove difficult at times. We must recognize the impact of relationships between professionals on the overall efficacy of our plans or recommendations. We must also understand the relationship of professional skill sets required for effective communication and collaboration between different profession types. Therefore, by applying strategies to develop, implement, monitor, and adapt a collaborative model, implementation and effective treatment can be more reliable and comfortable for all parties. This workshop can be applied to one's own practice, as well as school-based settings.
This workshop will facilitate attendees to:
1. Conduct a needs assessment for communication among team members within a school district.
2. Identify all team members and levels of communication required per case.
3. Identify stagnating problems within teams leading to more effective treatment for clients.
4. Identify deficits, create collaboration goals and monitor progress.
5. Implement a collaborative model, monitor progress, and adjust according based on data.
